In a randomized clinical trial with 23 participants in the meditation group and 19 in the control group, state anxiety decreased from a pre-test average of 51.87 to 42.70 at week 4 and 41.12 at week 8. Meditation did not produce a statistically significant effect on quality of life, though the average increased during practice. The authors suggest meditation may serve as a mental health nursing care strategy for sexual and gender minorities.
