Heartfulness Practice for Inner Transformation and Holistic Health: A Psychophysiological Inquiry

Vidhyayana June 19, 2026 Rathod Mridula Raghunath

Sustained practice of Heartfulness Meditation, which includes 'Self Meditation' (SMP) and 'Meditation Sessions with Trainer' (MST), fosters emotional resilience, stress reduction, mental clarity, and inner coherence by harmonizing emotional, cognitive, and spiritual dimensions of experience. The paper integrates Indic psychological traditions with empirical research on heart-brain communication and heart rate variability to support the heart's role in cognition, emotion, and well-being. It argues that heart-centered awareness practices offer a practical framework for cultivating self-awareness, ethical sensitivity, and resilience, particularly in academic environments facing anxiety, stress, and disengagement. The study demonstrates alignment between scientific and spiritual perspectives within contemporary research paradigms.
