Effect of mindfulness-based interventions on people with prehypertension or hypertension: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

BMC cardiovascular disorders February 14, 2024 Qiongshan Chen, Hui Liu, Shizheng Du 23 citations

Mindfulness-based interventions reduce blood pressure and improve mental health in people with hypertension or prehypertension. A meta-analysis of 12 trials with 715 participants found that, compared with control conditions, mindfulness training lowered systolic blood pressure by about 9 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure by about 6 mm Hg, and also reduced anxiety, depression, and perceived stress. The blood-pressure-lowering effect was stronger in participants who had higher blood pressure before the intervention. The results support using mindfulness-based programs as part of hypertension management, but more large, long-term trials are needed.

Effect of intraoperative and/or postoperative esketamine administration on preventing postpartum depression: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Psychiatry research May 1, 2024 Jinping Wang, Hui Liu, Xinchuan Wei 9 citations

A systematic review and meta-analysis of nine randomized controlled trials with 1277 participants found that administering esketamine during or after cesarean delivery significantly reduces the incidence of postpartum depression and lowers Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scores in the early postoperative period. Esketamine also decreased the occurrence of postoperative nausea and vomiting without affecting other psychiatric symptoms.
