Long-term transformative effects and integration challenges of psychedelic experiences

Psychedelic experiences with psilocybin and LSD can inspire long-term positive transformation, but integration challenges often include communication difficulties, lack of a supportive community, and oppressive legislation. A mixed-method study with six interview participants and a survey of 39 people from the Romanian population found changes in perception of self, emotional, spiritual, and interpersonal transformation. The statistical similarity between the interview group and the broader national sample supported the qualitative findings. Integration difficulties ranged from mild to substantial, with interpersonal and cultural factors being common obstacles. Further cross-cultural research is needed to confirm cultural differences.
