A social media-based mindfulness program (MCARE) added to usual care reduced depression and anxiety more than usual care alone in 178 patients with acute coronary syndrome. At six weeks, depression dropped substantially (Cohen's d = -1.28) and anxiety dropped moderately (Cohen's d = -0.83); these benefits persisted at 12 weeks. The program also improved psychological stress, physical and emotional quality of life, dietary behavior, physical activity, and systolic blood pressure. About 76% of participants completed at least five of six sessions, and over 93% rated the program acceptable. The findings suggest that integrating a mindfulness intervention delivered partly through WeChat can help manage psychological distress and improve cardiovascular risk factors in this population.

In elderly patients undergoing endoscopic submucosal dissection, the estimated 95% effective dose of ciprofol when combined with esketamine was 0.276 mg/kg, and when combined with sufentanil was 0.244 mg/kg. Induction time was shorter with esketamine, and during the procedure this group had lower rates of hypoxia and hypotension and less fluctuation in blood pressure and heart rate. However, time to full alertness was longer with esketamine. No significant differences were seen in the need for rescue sedation or analgesia. These findings are exploratory and strategy-specific, not evidence of superiority.

Esketamine as an adjunct to sufentanil may reduce opioid consumption in non-surgical patients receiving mechanical ventilation in the ICU. This ongoing multicenter, single-blind, randomized controlled trial in six ICUs in China will assign 132 patients to either standard care (sufentanil alone) or an esketamine infusion at 0.2 mg/kg/hour plus sufentanil. The primary outcome is mean hourly sufentanil consumption. The trial aims to provide evidence for esketamine's efficacy and safety, addressing a gap in knowledge for this patient population.

A systematic review and network meta-analysis of 29 randomized controlled trials involving 2253 adults with neuropsychiatric disorders found that mind-body exercises such as Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction significantly reduce the pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β), while increasing the anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Effects on tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and C-reactive protein (CRP) showed a non-significant trend toward benefit. The most effective dosage was between 600 and 1000 MET-minutes per week. Tai Chi and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction ranked best for reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, while Qigong showed the greatest benefits for neurotrophic outcomes. Participant characteristics and exercise parameters moderated the effects, suggesting personalized prescriptions may enhance outcomes.
