Multiple Systemic and Ocular Malformations Associated With Maternal LSD Usage

A male infant was born with severe malformations including anencephaly, absence of the left arm, cleft lip and palate, fused fingers, and eye defects such as coloboma, cataract, and corneal opacity. The mother had used LSD before and during pregnancy. The limb amputation deformities are the primary findings. These changes are sufficiently specific to suggest a correlation with other reported cases where a higher than expected incidence of such deformities occurs after maternal LSD use. This is only the second recorded case of lens abnormalities associated with maternal LSD ingestion.
